The Government will continue to invest in the development of ICT skills and training to facilitate development in the country, Principal Secretary for ICT Jerome Ochieng, has said.

Mr Ochieng said, the government is committed to developing programs that enhanced ICT skills for youth to ensure growth in the country’s economy.

Speaking at the a Nairobi hotel yesterday, during the awarding of ICT innovators by Huawei technologies, the Principal Secretary said, in an effort to create job opportunities for the youth, the government had started the Ajira digital that provides the youth with skills and digital devices and on-line job opportunities.

Noting that ICT as an enabler, ICT cuts across all sectors of the economy, the Principal Secretary said, the government relies on the sector to generate quality employment for the youthful population in the country.

He said the digital economy has contributed inclusive development because it creates formal jobs easily accessed by the youth from marginalized communities.

Mr Ochieng commended the Huawei technologies for collaborating with the public sector to bridge the skill gaps between the academia and Labour market to facilitate absorption and application of ICT.
