By June 2013, 4,300 Km of the National Optic Fibre Backbone (NOFBI) Network had been laid in 27 Counties. In June 2016, over 6, 000 Km of NOFBI network had been laid across all the 47 Counties. 44 out of 46 OSP and LAN survey in the Counties have been completed. Ministry to Work with Private Sector Players to Complete NOFBI Project.
The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology Mr. Joe Mucheru has said his Ministry will engage with the Private Sector players to conclude the National Optic Fibre Backbone Infrastructure (NOFBI) which aims to enhance universal access to affordable ICTs countrywide.
