Program producers have been asked to take advantage of the power of the media and generate content that portray a positive image of Kenya and the continent.

Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunication, Mr. Sammy Itemere said the media should share with the world inspiring stories and innovations in Africa to transform perceptions about the continent.

Speaking at the launch of the French 24 DTTV in Nairobi last evening, Mr. Itemere said, use of mobile telephone devices by TV viewers have made it possible for the citizens to be active participants in the information flow as content producers and transmitters.

Mr Itremere said that mobile phones that allows media convergence have made it possible for listeners and viewers to participate live media debates where they share their experiences that add value in the information chain and project positive image of the continent.

Acting French Ambassador to Kenya, Ms. Kim Ramoneda said, Kenya is an important country in the region and a strategic partner for France. Ms. Ramoneda said France would work together with Kenya to expand and grow the media industry.
Executive Vice President of France 24 TV, Marc Saikali said France was committed to building bridges of friendship between East Africa , West Africa and France for the mutual benefit of citizens.
