The Cabinet Secretary for ICT Joe Mucheru has said the government committed to in preparing children at their formative stages for a smart society by designing programs and developing projects that impart them with digital skills.

Speaking at the Muranga Teachers’ Training College during the County Education day Mr Mucheru said the implementation of the Digital Literacy Program (DLP) is aimed at preparing young generation by equipping them with technology skill that will make the innovative digital services and products.

Mr. mucheru said under the DLP program over 900, 000 smart devices have already been installed in various schools in the country. He explained that the program willentrench ICT in the teaching and learning process and management of education in primary schools.

He added that the program willequip teachers and students in public primary schools with appropriate skills to support teaching and learning process and develop capacity of education managers, primary school teachers for efficiency.

He called on parents, teachers and the students to take full advantage of technology to improve their lives by using internet for research, marketing and online work.

He appealed to the youth to maintain integrity and discipline for successful academic and career development. He advised the national examination candidates to desist from seeking short cuts to pass examination.

He the Ministry of ICT in collaboration with the Ministry of education has integrated technology to monitor the administration and marking of national examination. He said the move is aimed at promoting the credibility of the national examination and fairness among all candidates
