Kenya has become the first country in Africa to host the Standard Chartered Bank video banking call center following the opening of the center in Nairobi.

The video banking call facility, enable clients to access customer care services from any location via their digital devices without necessarily visiting the bank.

Cabinet Secretary for ICT Joe Mucheru said the choice of the Standard bank to locate their video call center in Kenya is a testament of high standards ICT infrastructural development and connectivity and digital innovations in the country.

While launching the Center in Nairobi today, Mr. Mucheru said collaboration between banks and technology firms in the country has resulted in innovations that have made the Kenya into a global leader in the Fintech space.

He said the collaboration made it possible for the transfer of over Ksh 3.4 trillion last year through mobile channels that was instrumental in increasing financial inclusion.

The cabinet Secretary urged bankers to educate their clients on cyber security. He also called on banks to invest in cybersecurity to prevent cyber crime.

The Standard Chartered Kenya and East Africa CEO Mr. Lamin Manjang, said the video call center is the only on in Africa. He said the video call service provides human interaction and enhanced productivity and efficiency in the industry.
