Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and Technology has launched the first Constituency Innovation Hub (CIH) in Kamukunji Constituency in Nairobi.

CIH is one of the pillars of the Ajira Digital Programme under the Ministry which aims to introduce young people to online work and provide them with the necessary tools, training and mentorship to enable them to work and earn a decent income.

CIH is under access to infrastructure pillar of Ajira Digital. Its aims are to enable free WiFi access to the public in 290 constituencies as part of the wider mission to ensure affordable broadband connectivity across the country.

Under the programme, every constituency will start with one innovation hub and eventually increase them to four.

The National Government Constituency Development Fund Board will provide financing for installations. Each CIH will have 40 digital devices (tablets) available for use by those who do not have their own devices.

Present during the function  which took place at California Resource Centre in  Kamukunji were area MP Yusuf  Hassan, Nairobi Senator Johstone Sakaja, Nairobi Women representative Esther Pasaris among other local leaders.
