Public servants in the State Department of Broadcasting and Telecommunication in the Ministry of ICT have been asked to maintain punctuality and integrity at workplace to promote efficiency and productivity in the delivery of public services.

The Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunication Mrs Fatuma Hirsi Mohamed said it is important for officers to invest their official time in providing prompt and quality services to project the good image of the government and facilitate development.

Mrs Mohamed who made the remarks during a meeting with clerical officers, drivers and office administrators of the Ministry at the Telposta Towers today cautioned the staff against absenteeism saying public officers have an obligation to provide prompt services in government offices.

She added that officers must commit to fight corruption that delay or hinder smooth delivery of public services causing disaffection among the public. She said the officers will be offered opportunity for training to improve on skills to facilitate delivery of services and promotion.

She said the government appreciates the contribution of all officers in the development of the country saying plans were going on to promote the staff for motivation.

She pointed out that the resources were scarce and called on officers to share tools and equipment for the smooth running of activities in various departments.

On their part, the officers expressed concern over challenges of inadequate working tools to enable them execute their mandate effectively.

The officers also pointed out that they experiences challenges of inadequate office accommodation and equipment to facilitate them work effectively.

The Principal Secretary assured the officers of the commitment and support of the government to enable them deliver on the assignments.
