The government will rely on the strategic positions of Public Communication Officers posted in Ministries and Information Officers in the Counties to facilitate the implantation of the Big Four agenda, Cabinet Secretary for ICT Joe Mucheru has said.

Mr Mucheru said the Officers are at a vantage position to inform and educate the citizens on the importance of the Big Four agenda to mobilize their support and create a sense of ownership of the projects.

Speaking at  the Telposta Towers in Nairobi today, when he addressed the officers drawn from across different Ministries, Mr Mucheru said the public servants had the power to transform the country by disseminating information on the agenda that will trigger action and mobilization of  support the projects.

The Cabinet Secretary called on the officers to take their work seriously and deliver on their mandate to support socio-economic development by disseminating information that was critical to the implementation of the big four agenda.

The Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunication, Fatuma Hirsi Mohamed said following the shift of access and consumption of information to online platforms, there is need for the government communication and information officers to utilize the social media platform to access and disseminate information for public.

Mrs Mohamed said, officers need to be trained on how to run and manage government social media platforms to ensure their accounts have upto date and accurate information.

She said the Ministry was the backbone of government communication strategy and called on officers to work hard to ensure they educate the public on government policies , programs and projects on the Big four agenda to facilitate public participation and implementation of the program.
