Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Alexander De Croo has underscored the need for bilateral
and multilateral collaboration to resolve insecurity, poverty, effects of climate and
unemployment challenges affecting many nations.
Mr. De Croo who is also the Minister of Development Cooperation and Digital Agenda praised
Kenya for its technological innovations such as M-Pesa saying the country is Africa’s example
of how technology can revolutionize way of live for citizens.

Speaking in Nairobi today, where he led a delegation of Belgian entrepreneurs seeking
investment opportunities in Kenya, Mr. De Croo said Digital platforms were important for
Development and called for good working relationship between Belgium and Kenya to bridge
digital gaps to spur prosperity.

The Cabinet Secretary for ICT Joe Mucheru asked Belgium technology companies to set up
businesses in the ICT industry in Kenya saying the government would protect the interest private
investors.

Mr. Mucheru said Belgian IT companies are welcome to venture into Kenya’s digital space to
build ICT platforms that would be deployed to facilitate planning and implementation of the
government’s current Big Four Agenda.

Mr. Mucheru said, to ensure efficient and effective delivery of universal health care, food
production, manufacturing, and affordable housing in the country, technology would be applied
in various processes.

The Cabinet Secretary said, Kenya and Belgium can share experience on start-ups that will
generate employment and create wealth to boost the country’s GDP.
