Digital Migration

Following migration to the digital platform, rapid growth in the TV broadcast industry has been witnessed. Already there are 65 Free to air TV stations in the country. The progress of digital migration is 80% complete. Out of 20 Transmitters that have been delivered, 10 have been installed and are on air at: Lamu, Kitui, MbuiNzau (Makueni) Namanga (Kajiado) , wajir, Nyamninia (Siaya),  Vuria (TaitaTavetta), Nyadundo (Nyandarua), Nyambene, (Embu/Meru/Isiolo), Webuye, Londiani,. The programme is on-going and it is 50% complete. The following stations have been installed and commissioned: Limuru, Timboroa, Kapenguria,Kisii, Nyamninia (Yala), Vuria, Malindi, Lamu, Garsen, Nyambene, Kitui, Garissa, Kisumu, Nyeri, Mazeras, Kapsimotwo and Nyadundo Migration to FM radio transmission is expected to contribute to sector development and growth, increased access to information that will lead to improved education and health services and promotion of local cultural heritage.
