PS Isaboke Welcomes Safaricom Delegation, Reaffirming Shared Commitment to Digital Partnership

A delegation from Safaricom PLC today paid a courtesy call to the Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Steve Isaboke EBS, today afternoon.

PS Isaboke commended Safaricom for its innovative contributions across key sectors, including health, agriculture, technology and communication, which have significantly impacted the Kenyan way of life. “The Government’s role is to foster a conducive environment for the private sector to thrive. And in their growth, they are also able to offer opportunities to the youth. When companies like Safaricom succeed, it reflects positively on our shared vision for a prosperous Kenya,” he stated.

Mr. Franklin Okata, Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer at Safaricom, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the Government’s digitisation goals. “Safaricom is transitioning from a telco to a tech-co. We are fully dedicated to partnering with the Government to achieve the digitisation agenda,” he emphasised.

Mr. Fred Waithaka, Safaricom’s Director of Regulatory Affairs, highlighted the company’s ongoing collaborations with various government entities. “We are actively working with the Judiciary to support their digitisation efforts and are also focused on building the capacity of the judicial officers to effectively leverage technology,” he noted.

The delegation also included Mr. Bernard Muteti, Director of Enterprise Solutions, and Ms. Mpoi Nkhasi, Senior Manager for Regulatory and Public Policy.

The visit reaffirmed a shared commitment to advancing Kenya’s digital infrastructure and fostering innovation under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
