PS Isaboke Hosts NYOTA Grassroots Sensitisation Forum in Kisii County
Broadcasting and Telecommunications Principal Secretary, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, yesterday led the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) grassroots sensitisation forum in Kisii County, in line with H.E. President Dr. William Ruto’s directive for Principal Secretaries to champion the initiative in their home counties.
The forum, held at the Kisii National Polytechnic, brought together the county leadership led by Deputy Governor H.E. Elijah Obebo (representing Governor H.E. Simba Arati), Members of County Assembly, National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) and youth leaders from across the county.
The PS noted that youth unemployment remains a major challenge, with close to one million young people joining Kenya’s labour market each year. He emphasised that the NYOTA Project, implemented by the Government of Kenya in partnership with the World Bank, provides timely support to empower youth through skills development, business growth and digital inclusion.
PS Isaboke commended the County Government of Kisii for its inclusive approach, noting that 65% of its Chief Officers are youth, reflecting a strong commitment to youth empowerment.
Under the NYOTA programme, each of Kisii County’s 45 wards will have 70 beneficiaries, each receiving KSh 50,000 as part of the business support component.
The PS encouraged young people to take advantage of the opportunity, noting that applications have re-opened and will close on 12th October 2025. Interested applicants can apply by dialling *254#, selecting NYOTA Project, and then Business Support. #NYOTAMtaani
