PS Isaboke Highlights Youth Empowerment at TikTok Creator Education Day

The Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, EBS, delivered closing remarks at the TikTok Creator Education Day, commending the platform for selecting Kenya as a hub to celebrate and invest in young creators.
He noted the Government’s strong focus on empowering young people through meaningful work under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), with the Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy as a core pillar. This agenda is anchored on the National Digital Masterplan (2022–2032), which envisions the establishment of 1,450 ICT hubs, one in every ward, together with 100,000km of fibre optic cable and 25,000 free Wi-Fi hotspots across the country. Through the Universal Service Fund, unserved and underserved communities will also be connected to ensure inclusive access to the digital economy.
Highlighting the role of creators as storytellers, entrepreneurs and cultural ambassadors, the Principal Secretary celebrated the power of Kenyan youth to unite communities and carry Kenya’s voice to the world. He commended TikTok for initiatives such as #LevelUpAfrica, which align with Kenya’s agenda to empower creatives through innovation, skills development and technology.
He also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to partnering with platforms like TikTok to make the digital ecosystem safer,  enhance monetization opportunities and expand avenues for Kenyan creatives.
The PS was accompanied by the Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination, Mr Dennis Itumbi.
