PS Isaboke Champions Strategic Communication

The Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, EBS, earlier today joined fellow Principal Secretaries Dr. Patrick Mariru (Defence) and Mr. Julius Korir (Water and Sanitation) for the 5th Steering Committee Meeting on the proposed design and construction of Social/Affordable Housing and Infrastructure for the Protection, Restoration, Rehabilitation, and Beautification of the Nairobi Rivers Basin. The Steering Committee is Chaired by PS Amos Gathecha (Public Service).
The meeting reviewed the project’s scope and noted progress in ongoing public participation, particularly in areas such as Gikomba, as well as the launch of media campaigns, including during Mazingira Day celebrations.
The committee reiterated the importance of due process and addressed challenges such as encroachment and dumping, which have affected some aspects of the project, while proposing viable solutions to ensure steady progress.
PS Isaboke underscored the role of the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications in streamlining communication to enhance public awareness of the project’s goals, progress and benefits. He emphasised that clear and transparent communication will be central to countering misinformation and disinformation surrounding the project and fostering public trust.
Others present included Hon. Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Chairperson of the Nairobi Rivers Commission, Brig. (Eng.) Joseph Muracia, CEO of the Nairobi Rivers Commission, Eng. Mohamed Moulid Shurie, CEO of the Water Resources Authority, and Mr. Gilbert Kitiyo, Regional Commissioner, Mr Temesi Mukani, the Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, among other senior officials.
