PS Isaboke Calls for Effective Communication of Government Agenda, Progress and Opportunities
As the Financial Year draws to a close on June 30, 2025, the State Department of Broadcasting and Telecommunications, under the leadership of Principal Secretary Stephen Isaboke, EBS, convened its weekly Heads of Departments meeting to review the ministry’s attainment of the Performance Contract.
This critical exercise evaluated the State Department’s mandate, celebrating achievements, acknowledging areas for improvement and charting a path forward for the upcoming Financial Year. PS Isaboke emphasised the importance of effective, evidence-based communication to engage the public, ensuring Kenyans are informed about the Government’s progress and opportunities.
“We must bring people along,” he urged, echoing H.E. the President’s resolute message: “Failure is not an option.”
The meeting highlighted the steady progress of the Government’s five Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda pillars, with the State Department’s role in the digital superhighway standing out as both a pillar and an enabler of all others.
From the success of the Social Health Authority (SHA), with 22 million Kenyans registered and supported by a robust digital dashboard, to the Hustler Fund empowering youth and MSMEs through accessible digital funding, work in the digital space is transformative.
PS Isaboke noted the ongoing commitment to establishing 1,450 digital hubs, one in each ward, and centres of excellence in every county, reinforcing the Government’s dedication to bridging the digital divide and fostering inclusive growth.
Looking ahead, PS Isaboke called for enhanced collaboration within the State Department and across ministries to ensure seamless delivery of the Government’s agenda. He stressed the need for communication that is not only evidence-based but also enriched with community testimonials and amplified through digital channels.
Empowering the State Department’s staff remains a priority to boost motivation, wellness and patriotism, enabling them to effectively share Government opportunities with their communities.
