PS Isaboke Briefed on Government Owned Enterprises Act, 2025
Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr Stephen Isaboke, EBS, was this morning briefed on the Government Owned Enterprises Act, 2025, which came into effect in early December.
The Act directly affects two institutions under the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation and the Postal Corporation of Kenya. It introduces reforms to the governance and operational frameworks of identified State-owned entities, transitioning them from traditional State corporations into commercially driven public companies.
The new framework emphasises financial viability, self-financing and long-term sustainability, while strengthening accountability and performance.
These reforms are fully aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), positioning KBC and Posta Kenya to become more agile, innovative and financially independent, even as they continue to deliver essential services to all Kenyans.
The briefing underscored the Government’s commitment to modernising public enterprises to better support economic growth, service delivery and national development priorities.
