Expanding exchanges between scholars, journalists, and creative industries

The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary, H.E. Hon. William Kabogo Gitau today participated in unveiling the fifth volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China book series during the China- Kenya Readers Forum on Xi Jinping: The Governance of China held in Nairobi.
The Forum was instrumental in helping Kenyan readers fully comprehend the essence of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and deepen their understanding of the practical results of Chinese modernisation and its global significance.
CS Kabogo acknowledged that the Forum was key in reminiscing how nations advance not only through material development, but through the circulation of ideas, critical thinking, and the curiosity to learn from one another.
"As Kenya reflects on 'The Governance of China,' our aim is not to replicate China’s path, but to understand it. Every country must chart its own course, guided by its history, its people, and its aspirations," the CS said.
He pointed out that Kenya is keen to expand exchanges between scholars, journalists, and creative industries, "we welcome opportunities for joint translation and publishing; academic and youth fellowships; media placements between Kenyan and Chinese newsrooms; and collaboration in digital storytelling and cultural research."
These exchanges, CS stated, build mutual understanding and allow the youth to appreciate the richness of each other’s cultures.
The Forum was hosted by the State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China, China International Communications Group (CICG) and the Chinese Embassy in Kenya and organised by Foreign Languages Press and CICG Center for Europe and Africa.
In attendance were; Minister of the State Council Information Office of China H.E. Mr. Mo Gaoyi, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Guo Haiyan, UDA Secretary General Hon. Hassan Omar, Dagoretti North MP Hon. Beatrice Elachi and other stakeholders.
