PS: Isaboke Leads Delegation to Present Revised Telecommunications Subscriber Registration Regulations
The Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, EBS, today led a high-level delegation to the National Committee on Delegated Legislation, representing the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo Gitau.
The Committee session was chaired by Hon. Chepkong’a Samuel Kiprono, CBS, M.P.
Accompanying the PS was the Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya, Mr. David Mugonyi, alongside other senior officials from the Ministry and the Authority.
During the session, the delegation formally tabled the revised Kenya Information and Communications (Registration of Telecommunications Service Subscribers) Regulations, 2025. The updated regulations reflect substantive input from the Committee, following a previous consultative review process.
The PS reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to strengthening Kenya’s digital ecosystem through comprehensive legal frameworks that prioritise data protection, national security, and service reliability. He also highlighted that the revised regulations form part of wider reforms aimed at improving accountability and safeguarding consumer interests in the telecommunications sector.
The engagement with the Committee marks a critical milestone towards the operationalisation of the regulations, as the Ministry continues to work closely with Parliament and stakeholders to ensure their timely and effective implementation.
