Kenya Steps Up Broadcasting Preparations for AFCON 2027
The Government has intensified preparations to deliver world-class broadcasting services during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with a focus on ensuring seamless coverage and leaving a lasting legacy for Kenya's sports and digital broadcasting sectors.
Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, EBS, and Principal Secretary for Sports, Mr. Elijah Mwangi, co-chaired a multi-stakeholder meeting on broadcasting preparedness at the Raila Odinga International Stadium, Talanta Sports Complex.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders from the broadcasting sector to assess Kenya's readiness to meet the technical and operational requirements for the continental football tournament. Discussions focused on reviewing progress made, inspecting the stadium's broadcasting infrastructure and identifying priority areas requiring coordinated action ahead of AFCON 2027.
The Principal Secretaries emphasised the importance of close collaboration among government agencies, broadcasters, infrastructure providers and other industry stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality broadcast services that meet international standards.
The meeting also agreed on key next steps to enhance technical preparedness, strengthen broadcast infrastructure and ensure the country is fully equipped to provide uninterrupted, high-definition coverage of the tournament to audiences across Africa and the world.
Hosting AFCON 2027 presents Kenya with a unique opportunity to modernise its broadcasting ecosystem, strengthen digital infrastructure and build lasting capacity that will continue to benefit the country's sports, media and creative sectors long after the tournament concludes.
