Strategic Communication Key to Effective Digital Government, Ministry Says
The Government has reaffirmed the critical role of strategic communication in advancing digital transformation and enhancing public service delivery.
Speaking during a consultative forum with Heads of ICT from Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr Stephen Isaboke, EBS, emphasised that digital transformation is not only about the technologies Government deploys, but also how effectively it communicates, engages and delivers services to citizens.

The PS, speaking under the theme “Strategic Government Communication in the Digital Era: Leveraging Broadcasting and Emerging Media to Enhance Public Service Delivery,” highlighted the need for closer collaboration between ICT and communication teams across Government.
“Technology alone cannot transform Government, stressing that citizens must be able to access services easily, receive timely and accurate information, and trust the institutions serving them,” noted PS Isaboke.
The State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications is strengthening public broadcasting, digital communication platforms and emerging media, while implementing the National Government Communication Policy and Strategy to improve coordination and ensure citizens receive credible and accessible information.
Heads of ICT were challenged to ensure that every digital project is supported by a communication strategy, every platform is citizen-centred and Government systems are interoperable, as Kenya works towards a more connected, efficient and trusted public sector.

On his part, PS for ICT and the Digital Economy, who was also the Chair of the meeting, emphasised that communication is a critical component of the Government agenda and urged the Heads of ICT to utilise the opportunities presented through communication and media to speak on Government development agenda.
Also present was the Principal Secretary for Public Service, Dr Jane Kere Imbunya and the Special Advisor on Programmes in the Executive Office of the President, Ms Faridah Karoney.
