Kenyan Delegation Participates in WSIS+20 High-Level Event in Geneva

A high-level Kenyan delegation, led by Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy,  Hon. William Kabogo Gitau , and Principal Secretary Stephen Isaboke, is in Geneva for the WSIS+20 High-Level Event—a global forum marking 20 years of progress toward an inclusive and sustainable digital future.
Earlier today, the delegation held productive discussions with Dr. Cosmas Zavazava, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT). Talks centered on Kenya’s active role in the upcoming World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) in Baku, ongoing BDT projects, and strategies to support young innovators and entrepreneurs through Partner2Connect funding.


PS Isaboke reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to expanding digital infrastructure, improving connectivity, and fostering innovation to empower communities nationwide.
“By leveraging these platforms and conferences, we aim to amplify local voices, support digital literacy, and create opportunities for socio-economic growth,” he said.


Also present was Kenya's Tech Envoy, Balozi Philip Thigo, who is showcasing the country’s vibrant digital talent and leadership on the global stage—underscoring Kenya's commitment to a connected and prosperous future.
Later, PS Isaboke led the delegation at the WSIS Partners’ Insight Session, which explored how ICT can reduce barriers, reshape business models, and enhance SME resilience. Discussions highlighted the importance of enabling digital transformation for SMEs and promoting multi-stakeholder cooperation in infrastructure and knowledge-sharing, especially for developing countries.
