It's All Systems Go For The 2nd Edition Of The Connected Africa Summit (CAS) 2025

The Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy through the auspices of the ICT Authority is set to host the Connected Africa Summit 2025 at the Diamonds Leisure resort in Diani, Kwale county.

Speaking today during the unveiling of Partners Media briefing at the Nairobi Serena hotel, Principal Secretary for the State Department for ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui noted that this year’s summit is particularly significant as it marks the 14th edition of the Connected series, which began over 15 years ago as Connected Kenya.

“What began as a platform to bring together Kenya’s ICT stakeholders has since evolved into a continental convening, offering a space for Africa to connect, co-create and commit to a shared digital future.

This summit is not just another event—it is a strategic platform where governments, innovators, policymakers and the private sector come together to shape the next chapter of Africa’s digital transformation," said Tanui.

The PS noted that during the CAS 2024, the Nairobi Declaration was adopted outlining clear goals and commitments on infrastructure, digital inclusion, skills, cybersecurity and innovation ecosystems adding  that this year’s Summit aims to take stock of the sector’s progress, re-energize its commitments and align on priority actions that will drive continental digital growth.

He noted that the summit presents opportunities for Africa’s startups, enterprises and solution providers to showcase African solutions to African problems, meet clients, connect with government and enterprise partners and position ideas for scale.

“We are proud that Kenya continues to serve as a gateway to Africa. Our strategic location, vibrant innovation ecosystem, and growing network of multinationals and tech leaders position us uniquely to support and drive Africa’s digital economy.

As Kenya, we must now shift our focus more intentionally to the continent. Our companies, professionals and institutions must expand their horizons to serve across borders. We must empower the many African-headquartered multinationals and tech firms based in Nairobi to be the bridge to the rest of Africa—sharing our capabilities, partnerships and innovations across the region,” added the PS

Eng. Tanui further lauded the private sector partners, sponsors, participants and the media for amplifying the CAS conversations and for holding the ICT players accountable to the goals they set.

“As we gather over the coming days, let us remember that our shared digital future will be built not in isolation—but through collaboration, connectivity and common purpose,” Eng. Tanui added.

On his part, ICT Authority CEO Stanley Kamanguya highlighted the importance of collaboration in driving Africa’s digital Transformation Agenda which is the main driver behind the CAS

“The collaboration that we continue to see from our partners in the private sector, is a true testament of the belief and endorsement to our digital transformation agenda in the country and the continent as a whole. Even in this digital age, the best technology we have is each other.

We want to assure you that we are more than ready. The registration of delegates is going well. I welcome all of you to Diani. Tupatane Diani!” added Kamanguya

“This is the third year that we are participating in this event which brings the government and the private sector together. It is even more important for this collaboration today because of the emerging technologies that are in play.

We all know that Artificial Intelligence ( AI) is a  buzzword and we look forward to sharing how CISCO is modernizing security in the AI world,” said Ms. Shain Rahim, the Country Manager, CISCO.

The summit will feature high-level plenaries, executive roundtables, sector-specific breakout sessions and targeted policy dialogues where the agenda will cover key themes such as AI, Cloud Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Fintech, Healthtech and Digital Public Services.

It is poised to gather some of the most influential voices from across the African continent in government, technology and academia, reaffirming its status as the continent’s leading platform for digital transformation dialogue.

With over 2,000 participants expected from across government, academia, business and development sectors, the Connected Africa Summit 2025 is shaping up to be a defining moment in Africa’s digital transformation journey.

The summit has been sponsored by various ICT Partners key among them Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE); Amazon Web Services (AWS); Cisco; NIA fiber; Fortinet; Kenya Commercial Bank; Safaricom PLC; Silicon Overdrive, among others.
