PS Isaboke Champions Tech-Powered Government Communication
By Michelle Dibo
Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Stephen Isaboke, EBS, today endorsed the use of technology to improve government communication.
Speaking at a meeting with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, the PS highlighted that digital tools are transforming communication, requiring new skills for government officers.
“Technology is changing how the Government engages with the public. Due to this, there is a need for Government communication officers to be retooled and retrained to ensure effective communication of the Government agenda and opportunities to the public,” he said.
Faith Nkatha Gitonga-Ngokonyo, Interim Country Director and Head of Tech and Digital Transformation Africa Advisory, TBI, stated that the Institute advises governments worldwide on strategy, policy and delivery.
“TBI will work with the State Department of Broadcasting and Telecommunications to strengthen communication through technology, aligning with our focus on effective governance,” she said.
The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, a not-for-profit organisation, supports Governments by integrating technology into strategy, policy and delivery.
The National Communication Centre, which is a function of the State Department, will take a digital first approach to strategic Government communication.
This use of technology in communications will allow the Government to have a single source of truth, where the public can access all Government data and information reliably.
