Agritech integration to boost productivity, job creation, and youth entrepreneurship

Today, Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui, met with Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Agriculture, and Mr. Jonathan Mueke, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Livestock Development in a landmark stakeholder engagement on a comprehensive 'Whole of Government Approach' tech system for Kenya's agriculture sector.
The discussions advanced Agritech integration to boost productivity, job creation, and youth entrepreneurship. PS Eng. Tanui underscored that the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) positions Agriculture as Pillar #1 among five core pillars, fueling this digital push.
In his opening remarks, PS Mueke noted: "The world has changed in the way we do our farming, now we are looking more at productivity, instead of just large-scale commercial production, " He called for interoperable systems enabling citizens, investors, and businesses to access and commercialize agricultural data.
On His part, Dr. Kipronoh echoed this, stressing unified systems as a one-stop-shop for agricultural information.
This engagement launches a coordinated effort to dismantle silos, harmonize data flows, and empower farmers, government, and industry with transformative digital tools.
