Strengthening Kenya's AI Skillls Ecosystem

This afternoon, the Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui, held a strategic meeting with Microsoft Executive Leadership, led by Phyllis Migwi, Microsoft East Africa Country General Manager.

The discussions recognized Microsoft Elevate as a strategic initiative advancing Kenya’s digital transformation through partnerships that enhance AI skills nationwide, with a strong focus on raising awareness, encouraging active participation, and ensuring certification authenticity.

PS Tanui welcomed the inclusion of lawmakers and policymakers in AI skilling initiatives, emphasizing their crucial role in setting strategic direction from the highest levels of government. He underscored that such top-level engagement is essential for fostering a robust governance framework for AI adoption, ensuring alignment with national priorities.

Also in attendance were Becky Abraham, Vice President of Technology at AI Pathways Technologies Limited, Joe Gaiku, Solution Specialist at Tabarin Consulting, among other senior government officials.
