PS Isaboke officially opens the IEEE International Microwave and Antennas Symposium (IMAS) 2025 conference

Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, this morning officially opened the IEEE International Microwave and Antennas Symposium (IMAS) 2025 conference.
The global event brings together leading engineering and academic experts to advance the frontiers of microwave, antenna and electromagnetic technologies.
This year’s theme, “From Savannah to Skyline: Microwave Antenna Technologies for Africa’s Growth,” captures Africa’s transition from basic connectivity to advanced, high-capacity communication systems powered by microwave, antenna and wireless innovations. It also aligns with the Government’s vision under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and Kenya Vision 2030.
PS Isaboke commended the engineering sector for its commitment to nurturing young talent through scholarships and mentorship, ensuring youth play an active role in shaping the industry’s future.
He called on participants from industry, academia and government to forge partnerships, drive innovative research and translate engineering excellence into societal progress, noting that “together, we can harness microwave and antenna technologies to propel Africa toward sustainable growth.”
Also present at the event was the Secretary for Telecommunications and Postal Services, Mr Alphonce Kanunga and the Director General, Communication Authority of Kenya, Mr David Mugonyi.
