CS Kabogo attends the launch of Airtel AI Spam Alert Services
Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Hon. William Kabogo Gitau today attended the launch of Airtel AI Spam Alert services, a first of its kind in Africa, meant to protect telco’s subscribers from spam messages.
The CS noted that enacting law in itself is not enough, there is need to continue working with sector players to employ technologies to make digital space, a safe space for all.
He indicated that many Kenyans have in the past lost their hard-earned money through spams that trick them to give out personal information and, in some cases, make transactions.
"We have made a firm commitment that digital services are accessed safely by all consumers, and this is key in building trust and ensuring digital entrenchment," the CS added.
"The choice of Kenya by Airtel as the first market to enjoy this service shows Kenya’s leadership in the regional and global stage. We will continue supporting innovations that make our digital economy flourish," the CS said.
The event was attended by Communications Authority Director General David Mugonyi, The CEO of Airtel Kenya Ashish Malhotra and other sector players.
