The Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy is in the process of actualising programs emanating from Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in December, 2023 between the Government of Kenya and the Republic of India through the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Speaking this morning when he held talks with Indian delegations, Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and the Digital Economy Hon. William Kabogo Gitau, said that Kenya and India are keen to tap into the rich culture, technological and innovation prowess of the two countries; especially in the field of entertainment and film industry where India has a flourishing movie industry.
The MoU intends to promote closer cooperation and exchange of experiences and digital technologies-based solutions in the implementation of digital transformational initiatives in the two countries; with specific focus on enhancement of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
The delegation, led by India’s High Commissioner to Kenya Her Excellency Ms. Namgya Khampa, formally invited the CS to the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) summit happening in Mumbai in May. The summit brings together media CEOs, entertainment icons and creative minds from around the globe.
Hon Kabogo said his ministry is planning to transform Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) to a modern and well-equipped media house for it to competitively perform its role as effective national broadcaster.
