PS Isaboke, Amb. Thigo Lead Preparations for IGF 2026
Preparations for the 2026 Internet Governance Forum (IGF) have intensified, with the Government convening key stakeholders to coordinate Kenya's readiness to host the global digital governance forum in Nairobi in December.
Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, EBS, and IGF 2026 Local Organising Committee Co-Chair, Amb. Philip Thigo, today hosted the Local Organising Committee at the Ministry headquarters for discussions on preparations for the forum.

The engagement brought together a multistakeholder team drawn from various Government entities, particularly the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy and the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination among the participating institutions and reviewing preparations to ensure Kenya is ready to host delegates from across the world for the 2026 IGF.
The IGF is a global multistakeholder platform that brings together governments, the private sector, civil society, the technical community, academia and other stakeholders to deliberate on issues shaping the future of the Internet and digital governance.
PS Isaboke noted that hosting IGF 2026 presents Kenya with an important opportunity to showcase the country's digital transformation journey, deepen international partnerships and highlight Kenya's growing role in global digital policy discussions.
He said effective coordination across Government and with other stakeholders will be critical to delivering a successful forum and ensuring that the country maximises the opportunities presented by hosting the global gathering.

The December forum is expected to bring together stakeholders from around the world to Nairobi, further positioning Kenya as a key player in shaping conversations on Internet governance, digital inclusion, innovation and the future of the global digital ecosystem.
