Kenya strengthens its telecommunications and connectivity preparedness ahead of AFCON 2027

The Principal Secretary, State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, chaired a joint steering committee meeting bringing together mobile network operators and key stakeholders in the telecommunications sector to deliberate on connectivity preparedness for the tournament, earlier today.

With AFCON 2027 presenting a major opportunity for Kenya to further cement its position as Africa's digital hub, reliable and seamless connectivity will be critical to the success of the tournament.

The focus is on strengthening communication within and beyond stadiums, while ensuring robust connectivity across the wider AFCON ecosystem, including airports, convention centres, hotels and other supporting infrastructure.

Beyond the tournament, these interventions will lay the foundation for stronger and more reliable connectivity across sports facilities and supporting infrastructure throughout the country.
