Kenya Marks 151st World Post Day

Kenya Marks 151st World Post Day

The Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, today represented the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, Hon. William Kabogo Gitau, during the World Post Day celebrations held in Nairobi.

This year’s theme, “Post ForPeople: Local Service. Global Reach,” resonates deeply with the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which seeks to ensure inclusive growth and equitable opportunities for all Kenyans, from the grassroots to the global stage.

Speaking at the event, PS Isaboke noted that the Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) remains a vital public service institution with the potential to play a transformative role in the digital economy. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to repositioning Posta Kenya as a key enabler of e-commerce, logistics and digital financial services.

He commended the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) for leveraging the Universal Service Fund (USF) to modernise postal infrastructure in underserved areas — a move that ensures reliable, affordable and inclusive postal and courier services across the country.

“As we celebrate World Post Day, we renew our resolve to make the Post a pillar of Kenya’s digital and economic transformation. Through innovation, partnership and vision, we can build a 21st-century Posta Kenya that truly delivers, for the people, for business, and for the nation,” said Mr. Isaboke.

The PS was accompanied by the Secretary Postal Service and Telecommunications, Mr Alphonse Kanuga, the Secretary Public Communication, Ms Patricia Ondeng and the Secretary Information and Broadcasting, Mr Temesi Mukani.

Also present at the event were the Post-Master General, Mr John Tonui, the Director General for the Communications Authority of Kenya, Mr David Mugonyi, among other senior Government officials.
