Government Steps Up Information Integrity in Digital Era
The Government has reaffirmed the importance of strategic communication and access to accurate, timely and credible information in strengthening public trust in the digital era.
The call was made by Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke during a media engagement with TV47 Breakfast Show to mark the 2026 International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI 2026).
This year’s theme, “Upholding Information Integrity in the Digital Age: The Role of Access to Information in Addressing Information Disorder,” highlights the importance of ensuring citizens can access reliable information while addressing the growing challenge of misinformation and information disorder.
PS Isaboke emphasised the need for a “One Government, One Voice” approach, with Ministries, Departments and Agencies communicating proactively and consistently on Government programmes, services and opportunities.
He noted that with Kenyans increasingly using digital and social media platforms, Government communication must also reach citizens where they are, providing credible information and responding effectively to misinformation.
He further stressed that Government communication should ultimately enable Kenyans to understand and engage with public programmes, services and opportunities while strengthening trust in credible public information.
