Groundbreaking of Nyamira University Set to Boost Education, ICT, and Local Economic Growth

The Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Steve Isaboke EBS, today joined the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Julius MIGOS Ogamba and the Principal Secretary for Defence, Dr Patrick Mariru, for the ground-breaking of the Nyamira University in North Mugirango Constituency. 

The University, which is proposed to offer four courses Agriculture, Education, ICT and Business, is expected to support the local economy and also bring higher education closer to the people of Nyamira.

“One of the programmes that will be in the University is ICT, which will specifically target the youth, empowering them with skills necessary for the future,” noted PS Isaboke.

The PS also noted that the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy has established digital hubs in Borabu Constituency, Nyamira County, with plans for further support connectivity and ICT in the counties.
