This afternoon, the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy, H.E Hon. William Kabogo, EGH, held discussions with Dr. Theodore Theodoropoulos, Chief Executive Officer, AMACO Energy S.A on an innovative proposal to establish an integrated LNG-powered data centre infrastructure in Mombasa, bringing together power generation, cooling, LNG storage and regasification, and AI-ready data centres within a single facility.
The proposed model is designed to provide reliable, dedicated power while potentially improving efficiency and reducing the cost of powering hyperscale data centres.
Mombasa’s strategic position as a landing point for international submarine fibre-optic cables, coupled with its deep-water port facilities, presents an opportunity to strengthen Kenya’s position as a regional digital infrastructure hub.
