Government Moves to Implement National Communication Policy

The State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications has commenced coordination on the implementation of the approved National Communication Policy, with key institutions brought together to align their efforts towards strengthening Government communication.

Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, EBS, today convened a meeting with Section Heads and Chief Executive Officers of State corporations under the State Department to discuss the implementation of the Policy and its priorities.

The meeting provided an opportunity to align the institutions on the policy framework and strengthen coordination in delivering more effective, timely and citizen-centred Government communication.

PS Isaboke emphasised the importance of coordinated communication across Government institutions to ensure that citizens receive accurate, timely and accessible information on Government programmes, policies and services.

The engagement brought together the Government Spokesperson, Mr. Charles Owino; Secretaries responsible for Public Communication, Information and Broadcasting, and Telecommunications and Postal Services; as well as the Chief Executive Officers of the Media Council of Kenya, Communications Authority of Kenya, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication and the Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board.
