Government Commissions two Jitume Digital hubs in Kakamega County

The Ministry of Information, Communications and The Digital Economy (MICDE) today launched two Jitume Digital hubs at the  Kakamega National Polytechnic and the Shianda Vocational college, bringing the total number of hubs launched in the region to eight and over 274 nationally.
The Kakamega Polytechnic digital  hub was officially commissioned by The Prime Cabinet Secretary Hon.Musalia Mudavadi who was accompanied by MICDE Cabinet Secretary Dr.Magaret N Ndung'u and Principal Secretaries Eng.John Tanui(ICT and Digital Economy); Prof.Edward Kisiang'ani (Broadcasting and Telecommunications) and Dr. Beatrice Muganda Inyangala(Higher Education and Research)
Speaking  during the digital hub  launch and a Town Hall Meeting organised by MICDE in partnership with Huawei, Dr.Musalia called on the residents to take advantage of the digital opportunities being offered by the government to improve their livelihoods.
Dr. Mudavadi further noted that these hubs will serve as game-changers by fostering inclusivity and innovation as they aim to unlock the full potential of local talent and enterprise.
On her part, Dr.Ndung'u noted that the hubs are designed to open doors to endless possibilities for the youth by equipping them with tools and skills to navigate a rapidly evolving world, transforming potential into progress and ambition into achievement. 
Also in attendance were Kakamega County Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa; Huawei Kenya Deputy CEO Steven Zhang; Kakamega County Polytechnic Principal Caroline Khamete among other partners and senior national and county government officials.
