Government Accelerates Digital Superhighway Implementation
The Government has stepped up coordination among key agencies involved in the implementation of the Digital Superhighway, with a focus on accelerating delivery, addressing emerging challenges and maximising the impact of investments in digital infrastructure.
Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, EBS and Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui, co-chaired a multi-agency meeting to review progress and strengthen implementation of the flagship Government programme, which is aimed at expanding digital connectivity and developing the infrastructure required to accelerate Kenya’s digital transformation.
The meeting reviewed progress, challenges affecting delivery and opportunities to improve efficiency in implementation.
The Principal Secretaries emphasised the need for effective collaboration and timely resolution of technical and operational challenges to ensure the programme achieves its intended outcomes.
The investments under the Digital Superhighway are expected to expand access to digital services, support innovation and create new opportunities across Kenya’s technology sector. The programme is also central to the Government’s ambition of growing the country’s technology industry from its current $7 billion to $100 billion.
By strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure, the Government seeks to unlock opportunities in technology, innovation and digital services and position Kenya as a leading digital economy in Africa.
