Goverment Officers urged to actualise beta pillars

Public servants have a key Mandate of offering quality services and actualizing the objectives outlined on the Pillars of Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) for empowerment of the citizenry.

Speaking during the signing of 2024/2025 Performance Contracts with the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (SDBT) Heads of Departments (HoDs), SDBT Principal Secretary Prof. Edward Kisiang’ani emphasized on the importance of effective implementation of duties assigned to public officials for overall development of the nation.

“At the end of the day, we shall be judged by what we committed ourselves to do. Our performance is critical because that is how the public will determine our usage of public resources and time spent in our offices to serve them properly,” the PS said.

PS Kisiang’ani expressed optimism in the capability of the HoDs to dispense their duties successfully and urged them to become pace setters and set standards for other officers to emulate.

“You are the torch bearers in your Departments, ensure that you formulate your Work Plans properly, give clear instructions to your officers and establish a scheme to assess how they are performing on a daily basis,” the PS added.

Notably, the core Mandate of SDBT is to; Develop /Review Policy and legal framework, Enhance production of news and information, Promote public communication services, Facilitate public sector advertising and Science Technology and Innovation mainstreaming.
